In a significant boost to India’s rapidly evolving ecommerce and AI ecosystem, ShopOS, an AI-powered ecommerce operating system platform, has raised $20 million (approximately INR 171.4 crore) in a seed funding round led by Binny Bansal’s investment firm, 3STATE Ventures. This marks one of the most notable seed-stage funding rounds in India’s startup space, especially for a deep-tech ecommerce venture.

Founded by Scapic Cofounders

ShopOS is the brainchild of Sai Krishna V K and Ajay P V, the cofounders of Scapic, a 3D and immersive commerce startup that was acquired by Flipkart in 2020. With their new venture, the duo is bringing cutting-edge artificial intelligence to the forefront of ecommerce operations, helping brands drive better efficiency, engagement, and performance across online platforms.

Revolutionising Ecommerce with AI

At its core, ShopOS is an AI-based ecommerce operating system designed to empower online brands by offering an intelligent backend infrastructure. The startup’s standout feature is its proprietary “AI workforce”, which enables brands to automate and streamline key business functions. These include:

  • Content generation: AI creates high-quality product listings, descriptions, and marketing copy.
  • Marketing automation: Personalized campaigns are deployed to drive higher Return on Ad Spend (RoAS).
  • Store customization: The platform dynamically adapts the online store experience based on consumer behavior and preferences.

This intelligent automation allows ecommerce brands to scale more efficiently, reduce operational costs, and enhance customer engagement — all critical components for success in the digital-first economy.

Strategic Use of Funding

The freshly infused capital will be primarily used to accelerate product development, scale up the engineering and AI talent pool, and onboard more brand partners onto the platform. ShopOS aims to build a robust AI layer that not only supports ecommerce workflows but also enhances decision-making and customer experience.

The founders emphasized that the funding will go into building out a world-class engineering team focused on AI research and development, while also expanding the platform’s reach across Indian and global D2C brands.

Backed by Industry Pioneer

Binny Bansal’s support through 3STATE Ventures is a strong endorsement of ShopOS’s vision. As the cofounder of Flipkart and a seasoned investor in the Indian startup ecosystem, Bansal brings both capital and strategic insight. His backing also underscores the growing investor interest in AI-led enterprise SaaS solutions, particularly in the ecommerce domain.

Looking Ahead

With ecommerce brands increasingly seeking smarter, scalable, and automated tools to compete in crowded digital marketplaces, ShopOS is entering the scene at a crucial inflection point. By combining AI and ecommerce infrastructure, it positions itself as a next-generation operating system for online retail.

The startup’s ambitious roadmap includes global expansion, deeper AI integrations, and partnerships with leading ecommerce brands. As the demand for intelligent automation grows, ShopOS is well-poised to become a key enabler in the future of ecommerce.
