His journey in homeopathy is not just a personal achievement but part of a remarkable legacy that spans three generations, beginning with his grandfather Dr. Anant Lal Varma, and continued by his father Dr. P.N. Varma.

Dr. Ashok Kumar’s grandfather, Dr. Anant Lal Varma, was a prominent estate owner in Patna and a pioneering homeopath who began his practice in Danapur around 1929. Known for his deep insight, cooperative nature, and ability to treat serious diseases, he realized early the need for awareness and development of homeopathy in Bihar. To meet this need, he established the Dalvar Chemical Company, which soon gained recognition for its high-quality medicines, reaching markets across India and abroad.
Dr. Anant Lal Varma’s contributions earned him the affectionate title of “Dr. Dalvar.” He went further to establish the Dalvar Homeopathic Medical College in the 1960s, which was later recognized by Bihar University, providing formal education and training for aspiring homeopaths. His legacy continues to be honored in Danapur through Dalvar Road and the Dalvar Chemical Post Office, reflecting the enduring impact of his work both as a physician and a social contributor.
Following his father’s pioneering footsteps, Dr. P.N. Varma became one of the most respected figures in homeopathy, elevating the field to new heights. As the Founder Director of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Laboratory and Director at the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy, he ensured the quality and certification of homeopathic medicines across India. His contributions extended beyond administration; his writings, including the renowned “Encyclopaedia of Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia,” continue to serve as essential references for homeopathy students in India and worldwide. Honored as Grandmaster of Homeopathy by ten professional associations, Dr. P.N. Varma also advised the Bihar Government’s health department and contributed significantly to national health initiatives.
Dr. Ashok Kumar often remarks that if one searches for the “supercomputer of homeopathy,” the achievements of his father exemplify the heights reached in this medical field.
Dr. Ashok Kumar showed remarkable academic promise from a young age, assisting his mother, Dr. Savitri Varma, and grandfather in their medical practice. After the passing of his grandfather in 1988, a young Dr. Ashok Kumar moved to Ghaziabad to establish his own private clinic.
