Swiggy’s rapid food delivery service Bolt has quickly become one of the biggest success stories in India’s evolving foodtech landscape. According to the company’s “How India Eats Report 2025”, Bolt is not only expanding at an impressive pace but is also recording a higher monthly customer retention rate than Swiggy’s overall platform average. Within just a year of launch, Bolt has secured a strong foothold across the country, highlighting India’s growing appetite for swift and convenient food delivery.

The report reveals that the 10-minute delivery segment now contributes 10% of all orders placed on Swiggy’s platform—an incredible milestone for a service that entered the market relatively recently. Even more noteworthy is the fact that Bolt’s customer retention rate is 4–6 percentage points higher than Swiggy’s overall retention. This indicates that once users try Bolt, they tend to stick with it, signaling strong product-market fit and a growing preference for ultra-fast delivery.

Providing deeper insights, Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s food marketplace, shared in an interview with Inc42 that Bolt has expanded its presence to over 500 cities across India. The service is also backed by an impressive network of around 80,000 restaurant partners, ensuring variety, availability, and speed—three key drivers of user satisfaction in the food delivery space.

What makes Bolt’s growth particularly interesting is its strong traction from non-metro and smaller cities. While urban consumers were expected to be early adopters of quick delivery, the higher-than-anticipated demand from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities demonstrates a broader shift in customer expectations across the country. As Kapoor explained, consumers in non-metros seek the same convenience and choice as those in bigger cities, even if price sensitivity may differ.

This growing adoption in smaller cities also reflects the increasing penetration of technology, rising disposable incomes, and the preference for time-saving services beyond metropolitan boundaries. Bolt’s success proves that the desire for convenience is universal—and not limited to major urban hubs.

Swiggy’s strategic expansion of Bolt aligns with the broader industry trend of hyperlocal delivery services gaining momentum in India. With consumers valuing speed, reliability, and variety, the 10-minute delivery model is becoming a game-changer for the foodtech sector.
