Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary’s life is a story of determination, compassion, and relentless service to humanity. Born in Bihar Sharif, Nalanda district, she grew up in a family where discipline, values, and education were given utmost importance. Her father, Shri Nandan Singh, worked at the Bokaro Steel Plant, and when he moved the family there, Sangeeta was still a child. The industrial township of Bokaro exposed her to a world of structure and opportunity, where hard work and ambition were woven into daily life. Bright and inquisitive, Sangeeta excelled in her studies, securing first division in matriculation in 1989 and completing her intermediate in 1991. Those who knew her then recall a quiet, focused girl who balanced academics with compassion for others — traits that naturally guided her toward a career in medicine.

Driven by a desire to serve, she joined Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College, Gaya, to pursue her MBBS. The medical journey demanded immense discipline, but Sangeeta’s commitment never wavered. Amid long hours of study and demanding clinical training, she remained steady, admired by her peers for both intellect and empathy. During this time, family expectations led to her marriage with Dr. Sharad Chaudhary, who was himself advancing in the medical profession. Their union proved to be one of deep understanding and shared purpose, forming the foundation for a life devoted to healing and service.
After completing her medical studies, Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary made a decision that would define her path. Rather than pursuing lucrative opportunities in big cities, she chose to serve in Bihar, where healthcare resources were scarce and maternal health challenges acute. She began practicing as an obstetrician and gynecologist in Siwan, a choice that reflected courage and compassion. From her earliest days of practice, she was recognized for her skill, ethical approach, and patient-centered care. For countless women in Siwan and nearby districts, she became more than a doctor — she became a confidant, counselor, and symbol of hope. Her clinic soon grew into a trusted center for women’s health, offering not only treatment but also awareness and dignity to patients who had long been denied access to quality medical attention.

But Dr. Sangeeta’s story goes far beyond professional success. Deeply moved by the plight of underprivileged girls and women, she established the Tetari Devi Memorial Trust in memory of her late mother-in-law. Through this foundation, she has worked tirelessly to empower those on the margins of society, focusing on education, healthcare, and self-reliance. Under her leadership, the Trust has organized numerous health camps, distributed medicines, and provided counseling for women and children in rural Bihar. Her commitment extends beyond physical health — she believes true well-being comes from opportunity, awareness, and empowerment.
One of her most impactful initiatives under the Trust is the Laxmi Bai Sports Club, an institution designed to encourage and support young female athletes. Having been a sports enthusiast herself — she was a 1500-meter runner who won a bronze medal at the state level — Dr. Sangeeta understands the transformative power of sports. The club provides talented girls with equipment, nutrition, coaching, and hostel facilities, ensuring they have every resource to pursue their passion. The initiative has already produced several award-winning athletes who credit Dr. Sangeeta’s mentorship for their confidence and success. Her goal is not only to create champions on the field but also to build strong, self-reliant women who can lead the next generation.

Despite her demanding medical practice, Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary’s days are filled with social engagement and humanitarian work. Every year on January 1, she organizes blanket distribution drives and community meals for the poor. On Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti, she conducts free medical camps, offering consultations, medicines, and screenings for hundreds of patients. Alongside her husband, Dr. Sharad Chaudhary, a respected ophthalmologist, she hosts large-scale health camps in memory of her late father-in-law, Shri Shiv Shankar Chaudhary. These camps provide free eye surgeries, cataract treatments, and sterilization procedures for women — services that have benefitted thousands. The couple personally oversees arrangements for patients’ food, lodging, and post-operative care, turning each camp into a testament of compassion and efficiency.
Within the local community, Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary is regarded as a symbol of strength and selflessness. Her commitment to public welfare has made her a respected figure not only among patients but also among peers. She is an active member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Siwan branch, and part of the Patna Obstetrics and Gynecological Society, through which she promotes professional development and ethical medical practices. Her excellence and leadership have earned her numerous honors, including the prestigious Aparajita Unsung Hero Award presented by Dr. Nandita Palshetkar (former FOGSI president) at the International Women’s Summit held at The Leela, Gurugram in 2018. Recently, the Dainik Bhaskar Group also recognized her for outstanding service in healthcare.

Professionally, Dr. Sangeeta continues to evolve, having received advanced laparoscopic and cervical-cancer training from eminent specialists like Dr. Prakash Trivedi (Mumbai), Dr. Rajesh Modi (Akola), and experts in Kolkata. Her facility, Adarsh Multispeciality Centre, in Siwan, is today among the region’s leading medical centers, catering to patients from across Bihar and neighboring states. Equipped with modern technology and guided by an experienced team, the center upholds her core philosophy — to deliver ethical, affordable, and compassionate healthcare to every individual, regardless of background.
Yet even with these achievements, Dr. Sangeeta Chaudhary remains deeply grounded. Colleagues describe her as calm, precise, and empathetic — a doctor who listens before prescribing. Patients, especially women from rural areas, feel seen and heard in her presence. Her humility and warmth create a sense of trust that is increasingly rare in modern medicine. She often says that healing is as much about understanding the patient’s emotions as it is about diagnosing illness.
Her husband, Dr. Sharad Chaudhary, acknowledges that their shared journey has been one of sacrifice and purpose. Both left secure government jobs to start their private practice so that they could serve on their own terms. Their decision was risky but ultimately rewarding, allowing them to combine professional excellence with social responsibility. Together, they have built a legacy that reflects not just medical expertise but human connection.
The couple’s vision for the Tetari Devi Memorial Trust continues to expand. Future plans include vocational training for rural women, scholarships for underprivileged students, and the establishment of permanent health centers in remote areas. Dr. Sangeeta firmly believes that healthcare and education must go hand in hand for true community development. She often emphasizes that empowering women is the key to transforming families and, by extension, entire societies.
Her path has not been free of challenges. Balancing professional demands, family responsibilities, and social commitments would test even the most resilient person. Yet she meets every challenge with quiet strength. Her success is not the product of privilege but of perseverance.
