What kind of home do you create when the only direction is to make it unforgettable?

That was the proposition GroupARC Architects and Interior Designers received when a longtime client returned to them for their new 2,200 sq ft residence in suburban Mumbai. Their directive was both unequivocal and liberating: make it as luxurious as a five-star hotel, with no creative limitations. A rare carte blanche. And one that was wielded with exacting flair by the core design team spanning generations: Neitin J Kshhirsagar, alongside Rajjas and Aishwarya Kshirsagar.

Designed in tandem with the son’s wedding, the home had to rise to the occasion and strike a balance between festive and timeless aesthetic. What followed is a layered composition of contemporary opulence and cutting-edge automation. Italian Statuario marble stretches across floors and beige veneer panels soften the walls’ geometry. Orchestrated mood lighting casts luminous brushstrokes, and acoustic integration ensures a hushed calm throughout. “Every detail is underpinned by skilled craftsmanship”, asserts Rajjas.

The foyer makes a quiet first impression. Marble niches echo the underfoot, cleverly veiling tech utility. In the living room, the language sharpens. Hand-polished fluted marble plays off squared recesses that course through the mandir facade, ceiling, and backwall—becoming the zone’s leitmotif.

The tonal palette stays serene: muted beiges and soft whites dominate, but it’s the interplay of finishes that brings visual interest. Furniture with softened contours tempers the architectural grid. Sofas from Milano Homes sit atop a flamboyant rug from Loops, both elements speaking to a lived-in elegance. Framed in a richly veined marble, the media cabinet adds graphic punch. Each artefact, thoughtfully curated by the design team, finds its place without clamour.

Bridging the living and kitchen zones, the dining ensemble serves as a subtle spatial punctuation. A custom dining table anchors the space, paired with sculpted leather chairs. In the open kitchen, neoclassical shutters contrast against a rose gold mosaic of Bisazza tiles. A sleek serving counter enhances everyday flow, and profile mechanisms uphold seamless modularity with visual poise.

As the home transitions into the private quarters, indulgence shifts from display to mood: plush textures, ambient lighting, and restrained palettes create spaces that feel composed yet unmistakably elevated. The master bedroom’s beige shell is accented with a slab of green exotic marble, while the leatherette TV shutters double as hidden storage. Defiantly veneer-free, the son’s bedroom embraces texture paint, arched lighting details, and classical flourishes like a statement chandelier. A rotating mirror and custom PU-painted desk in metal uplift the room’s utilitarian corners with an experimental edge. The daughter’s room finds a rhythm in brown-on-brown: walnut veneer, Armani marble, and a whimsical headboard reminiscent of pebbles. A Georgian-style screen delineates the bath from the boudoir, and a bulbous window seat plays muse. Outlined in capsule motifs, the guest bedroom packs in functionality with a Murphy bed that folds into an upholstered, storage-integrated backdrop.

True to GroupARC’s ethos, the bathrooms aren’t just afterthoughts, but emerge as immersive experiences. No two stones repeat—onyx in the son’s, brown armani in the daughter’s, exotic green in the primary suite, and a flourish of fluted and plain marble in the guest bath. Equipped with steam, mist, and body jets, these private wellness spaces were conceived to delight both the senses and the soul.

And perhaps that’s the overarching point of this residence. Crafted with the precision of a couturier and the freedom of an artist, it doesn’t just meet the benchmark of luxury—it resets it.
