Ola Electric, India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, made headlines at its flagship annual event, Sankalp 2025, held on August 15 at the Ola Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. Founder and chairman Bhavish Aggarwal took the stage to reveal a host of new developments, with the spotlight on the unveiling of the brand-new Ola S1 Pro Sport electric scooter.
The S1 Pro Sport is a high-performance upgrade in Ola’s S1 lineup, priced at approximately INR 1.5 Lakh. Designed to elevate the electric two-wheeler experience, the scooter is powered by the company’s indigenously developed 13 kW Feriite motor, which delivers peak power of 16 kW and an impressive 71 Nm of torque. This marks a significant leap forward in power, performance, and sustainability for the Indian EV giant.
Deliveries for the Ola S1 Pro Sport are expected to begin in January 2026, allowing the company ample time to scale production and fine-tune logistics from its state-of-the-art Gigafactory.
One of the most significant aspects of the launch is Ola Electric’s move to reduce its reliance on imported components. In an official statement, the company revealed that the newly unveiled Feriite motor was designed and developed in-house, reducing the dependence on rare earth elements, which are often sourced from overseas markets. This shift not only supports local manufacturing but also aligns with the Indian government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiatives.
The Feriite motor is being hailed as a game-changer for the EV space in India. By innovating on the motor’s design and avoiding rare earth materials, Ola Electric is setting a precedent for sustainable and cost-effective EV manufacturing. The company claims this technological breakthrough will pave the way for the next generation of electric mobility solutions in India.
During the Sankalp 2025 event, Bhavish Aggarwal emphasized Ola Electric’s commitment to innovation, energy independence, and environmental sustainability. He stated that the brand’s mission goes beyond vehicles—it’s about creating a comprehensive EV ecosystem powered by Indian technology.
This announcement comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is witnessing rapid growth, with increasing consumer demand and government support through FAME II and state-level EV subsidies. Ola Electric remains at the forefront of this transformation, continuously introducing new technologies, local manufacturing strategies, and high-performance electric scooters.
With the S1 Pro Sport, Ola is targeting urban and performance-focused riders who want both power and sustainability in a stylish package. The scooter is expected to compete directly with other high-end electric two-wheelers in India, offering a compelling blend of speed, torque, and innovation.
As Ola Electric continues to innovate and localize its production, the S1 Pro Sport stands as a testament to the brand’s long-term vision for clean mobility and homegrown tech leadership.
